The Value of Short Authentic Interactions with People
This is a tad embarrassing to admit. 😳 The interesting thing about living without another human being is that when I see one and talk to them, on a Saturday morning, like at a pharmacy or retail store to pick up necessities, I end up being overly friendly and grateful for the level of exchange or interaction. This overzealous response is so weird to me!
I know I am entirely loved by God. Yet, realize the need for people too.
Here's the thing: if you work in the public sector, especially as a cashier, server, or other service-oriented trade, I want to encourage you today.
You're the comfort, smile, and interaction someone desperately needs, even when they don't know it or admit it. Take heart.
If they aren't overly friendly, please don't give up. Keep smiling, keep giving your best as God's representative.
Then when you do have those customers who are overly zealous in their kindness toward you, remember this.
People are merely looking for a way to connect in a world so highly text-driven that you are the breath of fresh air they need!
Hebrews 13:2 reminds us to demonstrate hospitality. In doing so, we have often entertained angels unaware. Treating one another that way would make everyone's day a little better.
