No Lines are Not Invisible Lines in Life
I wear colorful no-line bifocals since my hair is white and my skin is light. The premise is simple. The line is invisible, so I can see both what is close and what is far away.
Like these no-line bifocals, if we're not careful, we can slip into church thinking no one will see us. This is certainly true if you attend a church large enough that you can slip in and out without much interaction unless you're intentional.
I could have easily felt this way last Sunday. During the first service, I sat down and was surprised when the woman behind me asked if I still worked at Arise.
Because of my role in HR, I interact more with team members than with the many parents who entrust us with their children through speech, feeding, and occupational therapy.
She shared that we serve two of her foster children at a neighboring preschool. I had no idea!
Matthew 5:16 reminds us of this. We are to let our lights shine before others. This is so that people may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
We are being seen when we least expect it. Maybe no-line bifocals aren't the only invisible lines in life. You may think no one is paying attention to what you're doing, but that's wrong.
People notice far more than we realize. Can people see Jesus in your ordinary, everyday moments?
